WordPress photo galleries

I’ve been using my DSLR again recently, partly because I have more free time, and partly because I traded in my Canon 5D Mark II for a Canon 6D, which is lighter and smaller.

I looked into various options for hosting albums of photos: Flickr, Smugmug, 500px, and others. Ultimately I decided to use WordPress pages. When I started Posterous, blogging platforms had terrible support for photos. Today, photo support is an absolute requirement, and WordPress does a great job. Their galleries are full screen, and include EXIF data.

I didn’t want to include large image galleries in my blog, so I have them as separate, full width pages. Just click “photos” in the navigation bar above.

By using WordPress, my photos live on my website, on my domain with my theme. And I don’t have to manage yet another online service. I don’t want my content scattered across the internet. Twitter is for everything short, and WordPress is for everything long.

You can see all my photos here.
