Posterous had an awesome party on Friday. But I was nervous until the last guest went home

A CEO’s job isn’t defined just by the number of hours worked, but also by the responsibility you take on. And with that responsibility comes stress.

We had a great party on Friday. I got to see many old friends, some I haven’t seen in years. But I was pretty worried about how the party would turn out, because there were 240 people on the guest list and I didn’t know most of them.

You wouldn’t invite 200 people you don’t know to your house, and I feel the same about our office. The amount of respect people had for our working space went down as more people showed up.

I was running around the whole time at the party. Yes, I had a great time, but I was never able to fully relax. We had 3 bouncers at the party. Did they need to break up any fights or stop any thieves? No. Am I glad we had them? Absolutely. It’s because I knew they were there that I enjoyed the party as much as I did. They gave me piece of mind.

I worry about these things. And that’s a good thing. Somebody needs to.

Disclaimer: the party may have been a little stressful for me, the real credit behind the whole affair goes to our office manager, Cyndee. She did a great job organizing everything and keeping people in check.

I know she was even more stressed than I was, and working hard to keep things running. She’s a black belt in Kung Fu so you don’t want to mess with her. We couldn’t ask for a better office manager.

The bouncers looking tough. But they are the nicest dudes in the world.
