Hama-Ko Sushi is ridiculously good. After a couple of St Patrick’s Day beers in Cole Valley, we wandered around for food. Yelp led us to Hama-Ko Sushi, and Yelp did *very* well. We found the tiny, sign free restaurant in just a couple minutes. We walked in wearing all green, and maybe a little loud for the crowd. The elderly husband and wife team knew we did not belong. But the 8 table restaurant was busy so we knew we had to try the food. The guy behind the bar wasted no time to tell us we might have wandered into the wrong spot. “There are no rolls or fancy mixes here, just sushi!” No problem. After we were seated, the guys wife confirmed “This is authentic japanese sushi, is that ok?” Of course. You can’t beat some good, solid Sake nigiri. The food was phenomenal. Some of the best fish I’ve ever had. Definitely rivals my other favorite sushi joint, Jewel Bako in New York. Just as good for a third of the price. Hama-Ko, we will be back, and this time we won’t be wearing bright green tshirts. I hope you remember us!
