On the way back from the Newcastle party I was pulled over by the police. It was 4am and I had a couple beers (I was NOT drunk) but I decided to play it safe and I set my cruise control to 78 and let it ride.

Right at my exit as I slowed down this car that was behind me for AT MOST 15 seconds, flashed its lights and pulled me over. I was surprising not nervous at all. I just became eligible for traffic school this week, so a ticket wouldn't really hurt too much. The cop was actually pretty nice and said he had been pacing me at 79.

He pulled this "It's foggy out, you should go slower." Ok, I've driven from SF to the South Bay about 50 times and this was one of the CLEAREST nights I have ever seen. Give me a break.

I can't complain too much because the cop just gave me a warning and let me go. How to avoid this (I'm usually good at this): if you're driving fast at night, and passing people, that's fine. But if someone comes up behind you, slow down and let them pass. DON'T let someone follow you.

update: I screwed up my math. Speedometers generally read high, but because of my tire size mine is probably closer to being right on the nose. So I very likely was going 79. Getting pulled over for less than 80 on the 280 sucks ass.
